PhD?

November 26, 2008 · 2 Comments

As some of you may have known, I’ve been toying around with the idea of furthering my education somewhere in late 2010 or early 2011. I’m quite certain what I want to pursue – HCI and UXd tetap di hatiku.

But the BIG issue here is WHERE? Local or obersea? Over the past 6 months, I’ve been doing some light research to find out more about the pros and cons of each option. BSc and MSc still okay lagi. But when it comes to PhD, banyak benda nak kena pikiaq…

And lucky for me, yesterday I had the chance of talking to my good friend who is currently pursuing her PhD locally. We touched on this often hot-debated issue a lil’ bit. Without any hesitation, she urged me to go back the small town with the zip code of 12180. This recommendation was based from her current experience and taking into consideration her previous years of doing her BSc and MSc in Ukay as well.

But the only thing is, I’m thinking more of 40170, Bandar Anggerik. Hmmm…

DIA lebih mengetahui

November 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Sebagaimana maklum, Aidil Adha bakal tiba tak lama lagi.  Cadangnya nak beraya di kampung. Tapi cuti tinggal berapa hari je lagi. Nak guna hujung tahun ni, adik ipar nak menikah.

Jadinya semalam berbincanglah kami berdua macam mana caranya nak beraya di ASKed. Hasil percambahan fikiran – balik kampung Jumaat petang, balik Shah Alam Isnin petang. Kejap sangatkan? Yes, tapi al memandangkan dah dua tahun tak raya kat kampung, nak tak nak kena balik juga.

Sememangnya, DIA lebih mengetahui. Pagi tadi, tetiba je bos suruh hadir bengkel di pulau nan satu tu, minggu depan 1 – 4 Dis ‘08. Alhamdullilah. Panjang cuti raya kami tahun ni…

Life goes on…

November 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

While I was doing my groceries yesterday, my ears caught the unmistakable voice of Chris Daughtry, singing one of my fav’s tunes; Home. Time stood still for a while. The memories of Troy came rushing in. Fast. Really fast…

Over there, life was pretty simple and laid back.  Don’t get me wrong though. When it comes to assignments, the inevitable tons and tons of reading materials and final projects, those I never took for granted.

The thing is most of the time I was doing them at the comfort of our home, with the three of them always there, beside me. Surrounded by my beloved family; Ayu, Atiqah and Aqif. Watching my little prince and princess growing up.

Fast forward to the month of November ‘08. Here I am, away from my family (yet again). Since coming back, career-wise, it has been wonderful to me. It’s like just what I’ve imagined before. Doing the things I loved the most. Even having funs while I’m at it. But then…

Last night when I got back home from ASC (it was around 8:00pm), my dearest daughter walked slowly to me and asked,

“Abah, what day is today?”

I replied back, “It’s Sunday, kakak”

“Then, why did you go to work? Sunday is your day off right?”

Ayu is always irritated at me for having (or pretending to have) all the answers for all the the questions. But last night, I was just lost for words… :(

Wireless di Jay Bee

November 17, 2008 · 2 Comments

I’m surprised. This is the first time ever the hotel I’m staying in let their guests use the wireless internet for free. FOC. And it’s not slow either. 2Mb in less than 1 minutes. Impressive!

I’m here in Jay Bee for my department’s Hari Q. The events started today but since I was on duty for last weekend’s ASC so I was excussed. Btw, they’ll be announcing the result for this year’s web design competition. Best of luck, you guys! Let’s keep the trophy for another year shall we? ;)

Busy week, yes?

November 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Yes indeed. Two events and one major redesign project…

Last Saturday, I went outing with two of my senior colleagues to Port Klang and Kay Ell to capture some pics for ASC ‘08. Managed to shoot some good ones. We spent the whole day on Sunday editing to photos and fine tuning the agenda for the competition. Ouch, where did my weekend go?

The actual competition will start on this coming Friday till Sunday. Habis ASC, on Monday morning, I’ll be traveling to JB for my department’s Hari Q. Will be there for 2 days. Usually I would take Ayu and the kids together, but since I’ll be busy with the event, rasa bersalah pula nanti nak tinggalkan three of them kat bilik. Jadinya, pergi sorang2 kali ni. Lagipun kan vroom, vroom kaler merah tu dah ada depan mata, hehe…

Once I’m back from JB, I should be channelling all my attention on my branch’s web redesign project. This is definitely the important project I’ve ever been into. The great thing is that this time around I got a complete web team to tackle this major task. Heck, we even planned for a week-long usability testing.

How kewl is that, huh? Nway, I’m confident my team will be able to deliver the final product by the deadline. Let’s hope for the best, shall we?
