Pen…

For others, it may look insignificant. But for me, it is a MAJOR thing, hehehe… If I’m in a meeting or whateva and need to jot something, without this SPECIAL pen, Artline 220 Super Fine 0.2, tak senang duduk jadinya…

To date, on my table, I have 6 ~ 5 blacks and 1 blue. Don’t ask me why I need to stock so many of them…

3 out of 10 doctoral students drop out …

Read this article on NST online today…

PUTRAJAYA: Up to three out of 10 Malaysians who signed up to pursue their doctorates on a part-time basis end up dropping out because of work and family commitments.

This has discouraged many others at a time the Higher Education Ministry is targeting 60,000 PhD holders by 2023, up from the present 14,000.

Professor Dr Zakaria Kasa, head of the National Council of Professors’ education and human capital development cluster, said many of those pursuing their PhDs locally often found that they did not have enough time to focus on their research because of work and family commitments.

“Others then become sceptical about taking up PhDs when they see people they know dropping out halfway,” he said.

This is the reason more people preferred to pursue their PhDs overseas, where they feel they will able to focus better on their research.

Deciding to PhD is one thing, but to do it on part time basis is a different thing all together. Extra effort, extra attention and not forgetting all those sacrifices….

JB …

Off to JB this weekend for a seminar…

The last time I took MAS was back in 2009. Since then Firefly all the way.

Must NOT forget to bring laptop together. Last May @ Penang, totally terforgot to bring one. Bosan abis, huhu…

Update: Udah balik from JB 🙂 . Alhamdulillah, the seminar went well. This time around my audience was roughly 200 pax. Delivered a talk for 45 mins before giving way for the next presenter …

Thanks to the host for the wonderful hospitality. For dinner on Sunday night, we went to Anjung Warisan. Was told by the owner that his restaurant was once featured in JJCariMakan as well as a shooting location for TV3’s Dunia Anita 🙂 …

Not surprising at all, I must say. The food was delicious indeed~ tomyam, ikan 3 rasa, kailan ikan masin… And what made our dinner much more eventful, we were treated to the sound of angklung performed by this talented chap. Memang pro abis!

Oh yes, now I remember why I prefer to travel with Firefly @ Subang instead (apart from my department’s travelling policy of course).

It’s the airport!

Huhuhu… Jauhnya nak sampai ke gate A11. 3 kali naik moving sidewalk belum tentu sampai lagi. Kalau kat Subang, tak sampai 5 mins dah masuk ke departure hall.

Still to be fair, it’s an international airport. Sah2 kena banyak gate to cater for all the airlines…

Goal or not?

Another strong case for goal-line technology? If you ask FLampard, surely he’ll agree without any slight hesitation. Remember his disallowed goal against the Die Mannschaft in WC 2010?

The linesman assistant referee thought the ball has crossed the line. The HMalaya were definitely not amused by that decision. Including yours truly.

Still, it was an entertaining game. Better than the game against The Reds. Despite a plethora of chances, The Blues managed to score only 1 goal (debatable of course ~ well, that depends on which team you support I supposed 🙂 ) against HMalaya ~ Lampard missed a sitter and our striker should have scored during that 1-on-1 with the goalie, rugi la bro…

Whatever the result was, it proves something, HMuda is definitely here to stay. Doesn’t matter if some critics said they parked the bus in front of the goalposts last nite. They’re very discipline! They have at least 10 solid years to go before they start thinking about hanging their boots. Full of potential I must say!

Oh, another thing. Next time, please don’t include anymore senior players in HMuda next time . Hilang team dynamic & cohesiveness!

Btw, Cik Novelis asked me something during the game last nite,

“Ehh, goal keeper tu baru lepas SPM ka?”

“Errr, yup. Baru dapat result 4 bulan lepas” 🙂

3 – 6 …

Frankly, the 1st half was dull as dishwater. After 25 mins, I was already checking my FB and GReader, huhu…

ACaroll seemed to run out of steam, the midfield was so and so – well, I presume that’s why they call it pre-season anyway…

And then after the interval, the next best thing happened. Aquilani was in to replace CAdams. Boy oh boy, he’s really GOOD! A game-changer. Hopefully with Steven G back in the team for the home game against The Black Cats next month, both of them together with CAdams, we’ll back in the top four (have to be realistic right?) …

Btw, the freekick by HMalaya #8 was SWEEET! Awesomeness…

Some friends were asking me why wasn’t I in the stadium instead? Bukan fanatik abis ka?

Entahnya, semenjak dua menjak ni, dah jarang sangat2 pi stadium. If I’m not mistaken, the last time I was inside a stadium, it was way back in May 4th 1998; watching ManU menitik Leeds Utd at Old Trafford

Cloud Nine!

En route to the final, the Japanese did the unthinkable by beating the host nation German in the quarter final by a solitary goal scored in the extra time. Later, in the semi final game, the Swedish were sent back home after the Japanese scored 3 goals past them…

And now, they are the World Champion! Kudos to them. Their never-say-die-attitude will become inspiration for others to emulate…

Btw, I was cheering for both nations. Japanese for their fighting spirit while the States for sentimental reason 😉 …

Mode HLP…

Prior to the released of the study leave letter from my sponsor, there are a few things that need to be done first especially:

  • Buka account CIMB
done last week at Jln Raja Laut’s branch, the process took less than 20 mins (elaun HLP akan terus masuk sini)
  • Plan of Study
must see my supervisor regarding this matter, this week preferably
  • Medical Check Up
will make an attempt to see the doc this Wednesday

Btw, the registration date is on August 14th (Sunday) while the new semester will only start on Sep 12th. Whatever it is, I’m still undecided whether to start my study leave on August 15th or Sep 12th…

I was thinking, if I start earlier, at least it would give me a head start before the classes begin a month later.

Better seek advise from my supervisor then…

Alhamdullillah, kerja2 kat opis pun dah banyak yg selesai. Within the next two weeks, there are at least 2 worshops and 1 seminar I have to attend – mode sebelum menyambut kedatangan Ramadhan Al Mubarak maybe…

Btw, as usual whenever I’m in front of a pc/laptop, the 1st thing I will do is to check Google Reader. Late this afternoon, there were a few posts on blogsphere about the news of the demise of somebody which later turned out to be false.

Yes, you can always delete your blog post as part of damage control exercise. But in today’s virtual world, once you click that ‘Submit’ button, there’s no turning back.

Take Google Reader for instance. Even though the original post is deleted from the blog, the content still appears in GReader…

Thus, be careful k?
